What Every Seller Needs Before Opening a Whistlr Go Storefront

Whistlr Go storefront requirements, one checklist: in-app business verification, the 15% fee, the Merchant Operating Agreement, listings and Account Health.

Whistlr Go storefront requirements have been refreshed, and the full rulebook is now published before you list anything. The business application starts inside the app, identity checks run through a Stripe account set up in your name, every merchant signs on to a written Merchant Operating Agreement, each sale carries one flat 15% platform fee, and business profiles now show a Store tab. This checklist covers what a seller needs at every stage, from the first tap in Account Center through pricing, listings, fulfillment, Account Health and enforcement, so your shop earns trust from its very first order.

Start With the Numbers: What a Whistlr Go Storefront Costs

Most sellers ask about money first, so that is where we begin. Setting up a storefront is free. You pay nothing to create the shop, design its pages or add products.

Each completed sale carries a 15% platform fee. Under the hood, payments are processed with Stripe Connect and booked as direct charges against the Stripe account that belongs to you. Two consequences follow:

  • Card processing is billed by Stripe to you, at Stripe's normal rate, exactly as it would be on any Stripe account you run.
  • Whistlr collects only its application fee, which is that 15%.

Money you earn arrives in your Creator Wallet, and from there it is paid out to your bank. The rate also mirrors what Whistlr charges elsewhere in its creator economy, so selling products and earning through Gems leave you with one platform percentage to plan around.

Refunds work in your favor too. Every refund returns the full purchase amount, and Whistlr hands back its platform fee at the same time, so a cancelled sale never leaves you out of pocket on fees.

Building the Fee Into Your Prices

Before listing anything, decide what you need to keep from each sale, then confirm your retail price still clears that number once the 15% and Stripe's processing charge come off. Doing this once per product saves you from discovering thin margins after your first busy week.

Who Qualifies to Sell on Whistlr

The entry bar is deliberately simple. Before you can sell, you need:

  • To be at least 18. Whistlr is an adults-only platform, and that includes storefronts.
  • An email address saved on your account. Business and payment notices are sent there, so the app prompts you to add one before applying if it is missing.
  • A finished Stripe onboarding, with your identity and business confirmed and payments enabled.
  • Your acceptance of the Whistlr Business Merchant Operating Agreement, which comes before any product upload.

Notice what is missing: an audience requirement. The Verified Business badge does not depend on how many peers you have. Compare that with the Verified Creator badge, which asks for 20,000 peers or recognition as a public figure. A shop with zero followers can be verified on day one and begin selling once the steps above are complete. If you are deciding which badge suits you, our guide to getting verified lays the options side by side.

Getting Verified: The In-App Business Application

Everything in this checklist rests on having a business account. Your storefront, Ads Manager, Business Suite and Studio Set are all locked until verification is done, and the app reserves its professional tools for business accounts.

Where to Find It

Accounts that have not upgraded yet will see a page called "Whistlr for Business" inside Account Center. It lays out the benefits in brief, including a shop for your products, earnings that move from your Creator Wallet to your bank, and richer data on what resonates with your audience. It also sets expectations on timing: the verification itself is a matter of minutes.

What Happens When You Apply

  1. Start the application. Whistlr spins up a Stripe account in your name.
  2. Work through Stripe's onboarding. Stripe's hosted, secure screens collect and verify who you are and what your business is, so sensitive details go straight to Stripe.
  3. Head back to the app. Finishing on Stripe returns you to Whistlr.
  4. Let the upgrade happen. When Stripe signs off and payments are switched on for your account, Whistlr converts you without any further action.

That conversion handles several things in one go. You become a business account, the Verified Business badge appears on your profile, and the storefront, Ads Manager, Business Suite and Studio Set open up. If Stripe is still reviewing something, the app shows a status message so you always know what is outstanding.

The best time to learn a marketplace's rules is before your first sale, not after your first warning.

The Whistlr Merchant Operating Agreement in Plain Language

Any business selling products through Whistlr signs on to the Whistlr Business Merchant Operating Agreement, in force since April 9, 2026. The business dashboard blocks product uploads until you agree, and agreeing is something you actively choose; nothing is pre-checked. The date you agreed is stored, which settles any question about the version that governs your shop.

Why These Rules Work in Your Favor

Selling on Whistlr is built on relationships. A typical buyer is purchasing from a brand they already follow, a creator they enjoy, or a store a friend recommended. That trust is the strongest asset a seller has, and also the most fragile. One fake item, one parcel that never arrives, or one merchant steering people to pay elsewhere makes shoppers warier of every store, yours included.

Published rules protect both ends of the transaction. Shoppers know what is allowed, can rely on refunds, and have a formal route for complaints. Merchants get a defined verification path, fees they can forecast, and an enforcement process that gives notice before it takes action. A legitimate business can typically satisfy most of the requirements in one afternoon.

What You Cannot Sell or Do

The agreement's central rules fall into six areas. Treat them as the boundary between a shop that grows and one that gets closed.

  1. Legal goods only: stolen items, explosives, weapons, illegal drugs or prohibited paraphernalia, and anything else connected to unlawful activity are off limits wherever you sell or deliver.
  2. Nothing sexually explicit: Whistlr Go does not allow sexual exploitation material, pornography or other explicit sexual content.
  3. Genuine, authorized products: replicas, counterfeits, pirated copies and unlicensed merchandise are banned, and you may be asked to prove ownership, show where items came from or demonstrate permission to sell them.
  4. No deception: bait-and-switch offers, fraudulent promotions, fake deals and misleading sales funnels are prohibited.
  5. Authentic signals: invented reviews, fake urgency about stock, undisclosed charges and any manipulation of what customers see are violations.
  6. Payment stays in-app: pointing buyers to unapproved ways of paying, in order to sidestep refunds, disputes or platform safeguards, is not allowed.

What You Are Responsible For

The agreement treats compliance as continuous rather than something completed at signup. Your obligations include:

  • Honest listings: every product description, price, availability claim, shipping estimate and refund promise has to be accurate and free of misleading framing.
  • Prompt, good-faith support: handling buyer problems, complaints and disputes within a reasonable time.
  • Payment rules: meeting Stripe's standards, supplying evidence in disputes when requested, and maintaining full records of your business.
  • Your legal duties: product safety, licensing, and taxes like GST or VAT wherever your customers are and those rules apply.
  • Your partners' conduct: if a supplier, contractor or fulfillment service affects your buyers, that is on you.

When you are unsure whether an item qualifies, leave it out until you are certain. The platform's broader rules are on the policy page.

Preparing Product Listings That Meet the Requirements

Adding a product is meant to take moments, and the mandatory fields are few. Getting them right first time keeps items live and buyers confident.

The Required Fields

  • A name for the product. Nothing can be listed without one.
  • A price set in US dollars. The system rejects negative amounts.
  • A handling window, picked when publishing from the app. The choices run from 1–2 business days at the fast end to 10–13 at the slow end, with 3–5, 5–7 and 7–10 between them.
  • Completed verification and a linked payout account. Until Stripe is connected and your business is verified, products stay unpublished.

Media Limits

You can attach as many as 10 photos to a product, each up to 300MB, and a single video with the same 300MB ceiling. Ten photos gives you room for front, back and detail shots, the item being used, and a shot that shows its size. Use the video for a short demonstration.

Optional Details Worth Adding

Extra fields let you record a SKU, stock quantity, weight, vendor, external product link, and variants for size or color. A compare-at price can display a markdown, but only if it sits above the retail price; the system enforces that, so a mistaken "discount" can never show a higher figure than the regular price. That check also protects you from accidentally publishing something that looks like a fake sale.

Choosing a Category

Each item is filed under one category to make browsing easy. In alphabetical order the choices are Accessories, Art & Collectibles, Bags, Beauty & Personal Care, Books & Media, Clothing, Electronics, Food & Beverages, Home & Living, Jewelry, Shoes, Sports & Outdoors and Toys & Games, with Other for anything that does not fit. Choose the most specific match so products show up where shoppers look for them.

Importing a Large Catalog

Sellers with an existing catalog can skip one-by-one entry. A bulk import takes either a CSV no larger than 2MB or a ZIP of up to 40MB that bundles your images, and each run can bring in as many as 100 products. Title and price are the only mandatory columns. Alternatively, Whistlr Go can sync with eight widely used commerce platforms, so a store you already run elsewhere, or a print-on-demand provider, can feed your catalog directly.

Designing a Storefront Buyers Want to Browse

With products ready, the storefront builder shapes both the look of your shop and the route shoppers take through it.

  • Layout and mode: pick from the available templates and decide between light and dark.
  • Headline and structure: write a headline, then order your sections and categories to guide browsing.
  • Promotional banners: feature as many as five, each pairing an image with a title, a subtitle and a category link.
  • Shop banner: choose one header image that sets the mood for everything below it.

The Store Tab on Your Profile

Business profiles now carry a Store tab, which puts your products directly on your profile so shoppers can browse in place. An item shows up there only if three things are true: it is live, it is physical rather than digital, and its profile visibility is switched on. Items that were removed are excluded. When a product is missing from the tab, those three conditions are the first things to check. It matters more than it sounds: someone who discovers you through a Mini can now reach your products in one tap instead of searching for them.

Connecting Your Store to Your Content

Your shop is woven into the rest of the app. Business accounts can link a Whistlr Go product to a Mini, and Live Shopping lets you pin items while you stream. Combined with the Store tab, that gives anyone who finds you through a Mini, Story or stream a short route to checkout. For the setup side of the shop, see the Whistlr Go overview.

Shipping Regions and Checkout Rules

At the moment, Whistlr Go checkout accepts delivery addresses in four markets: Australia, Canada, the UK and the US. Build your shipping options and stock decisions around those destinations.

Checkout also asks every buyer for a phone number. Couriers and sellers can use it to sort out delivery problems, which helps cut failed drop-offs and the complaints they cause.

Finally, payment has to happen through Whistlr. Moving a buyer to some other channel breaches the Merchant Operating Agreement and removes the safeguards, like refunds and the complaint process, that make people comfortable buying from a shop they found on social media.

After the Sale: Orders, Refunds and Complaints

Order Statuses

Each order sits in one of five states, so you and the buyer always share the same picture: waiting for fulfillment, processing, on its way, delivered, or cancelled. Enter a tracking number and the app identifies the courier for you and flips the order to shipped, saving a step on every parcel and updating the buyer instantly.

Refunds

Refunds are issued from your order tools and always cover the full amount. As noted above, the platform fee comes back to you alongside the refund.

Buyer Complaints

If an order goes wrong, the buyer can lodge a complaint and choose a reason: the item never arrived, it arrived damaged, the wrong item was sent, the seller has gone quiet, or something else. Fast, honest replies are an obligation under the Merchant Operating Agreement, and they are usually the quickest way to settle a problem before it escalates.

A Simple Post-Sale Routine

  1. Review orders waiting for fulfillment at a set time each day.
  2. Ship within the window you promised, and enter tracking as soon as you have it.
  3. Answer every complaint quickly, even if the first reply is that you are looking into it.
  4. Refund when an order cannot be fixed instead of letting a dispute drag on.

Account Health and Store Enforcement

Your Account Health Score

Inside the business dashboard, the Account Health page rates your setup on a 100-point scale and points out what is still missing. Two items carry 20 points each and four carry 15:

  • ID Verified (20): you have supplied government-issued identification.
  • Tax Forms (20): a W-8BEN or W-9 is on file.
  • Payout Setup (15): your Stripe Connect account is linked for payments out.
  • Return Policy (15): you have set a clear window for returns.
  • Product Guidelines (15): you have acknowledged the listing policy.
  • Content Policy (15): you have accepted the privacy and content policy.

Your total places you in a band. A score below 50 is At Risk, 50 to 69 is Needs Attention, 70 to 89 is Healthy, and 90 or more is Excellent. Anything under Healthy works as a to-do list, and each gap names the action that fixes it. Tax forms and a return policy take a bit longer than the rest, but any well-run business needs them anyway.

How Warnings and Store Locks Work

Enforcement on Whistlr Go is built on warnings, which gives sellers room to fix problems before consequences escalate. The steps are fixed:

  1. First lock: once a store collects 10 warnings, it is locked for 20 days.
  2. Second lock: another 10 warnings after that trigger a lock of 35 days.
  3. Closure: 5 further warnings following the second lock shut the store permanently.

During a lock, checkout is disabled and shoppers are told the store is unavailable for now. Separately, when risk is serious, the Merchant Operating Agreement lets Whistlr take down listings, pause campaigns or limit access. Attempts to escape enforcement, such as opening replacement accounts or faking records, are treated as violations of their own.

The value of a written system is predictability. Sellers can track their warning count, shoppers stay protected while a store is locked, and nobody is penalized under a rule they could not have read.

Ads Manager Rules for Verified Businesses

Verification that unlocks your storefront unlocks Ads Manager as well. Every ad must respect a few creative limits:

  • Primary text: no longer than 90 characters.
  • Headline: no longer than 25 characters.
  • Placements: a maximum of three per ad.
  • Approval: each new ad goes through review against Whistlr's content rules before it can run.

The tight limits are intentional. Ads appear among posts from people's friends, and short copy blends into that feed far better than a long sales pitch. Build the headline around one benefit and let the image or video carry the rest.

Because review happens before an ad goes out, allow some buffer for any campaign tied to a launch date. If paid placements are new to you, our guide to learning ads covers the basics of planning a first campaign.

Your Launch Checklist

Here is the complete route from a personal account to a live, healthy shop, in order:

  1. Save an email on your Whistlr account.
  2. Visit Whistlr for Business in Account Center and begin.
  3. Complete Stripe's onboarding and return to the app.
  4. Confirm the Verified Business badge has appeared, which means your tools are open.
  5. Read and accept the Merchant Operating Agreement.
  6. Set up the storefront: template, light or dark mode, headline, banners and categories.
  7. Add products with names, prices, photos and a handling window, or import them in bulk.
  8. Clear your Account Health gaps until you sit in the Healthy or Excellent band.
  9. Link products to your content through Minis and pins during streams.

Frequently Asked Questions

What do I need before I can open a Whistlr Go shop?

You must be at least 18, have an email saved on your account, finish Stripe onboarding with payments enabled, and accept the Whistlr Business Merchant Operating Agreement. Setting up the shop is free, and no minimum follower count applies.

How do I apply for a Whistlr business account?

In the app, open Account Center and choose the Whistlr for Business page. Begin the application, complete Stripe's secure checks on your identity and business, then come back to the app. After Stripe approves you, the account converts to a business account and shows the Verified Business badge.

What fee does Whistlr Go charge sellers?

The platform keeps 15% of each sale. Because payments are direct charges on a Stripe account in your name, Stripe bills its usual processing fee to you separately. If you refund an order, Whistlr returns its fee as well.

Which countries does Whistlr Go ship to?

Checkout currently takes delivery addresses in Australia, Canada, the UK and the US, and every buyer adds a phone number to help with delivery.

How is Account Health calculated?

The page scores six items out of a combined 100: ID verification and tax forms at 20 points each, and payout setup, a return policy, the listing policy and the content policy at 15 each. Below 50 is At Risk, 50 or more is Needs Attention, 70 or more is Healthy and 90 or more is Excellent.

What happens if my store gets too many warnings?

Reaching 10 warnings locks a store for 20 days. A further 10 lead to a 35-day lock, and 5 more beyond that close it for good. Shoppers cannot complete a purchase while a store is locked.

Clear requirements are what make a marketplace worth building on. Work through the checklist once, keep your Account Health in the green, and your Whistlr Go storefront will be ready for every buyer your content sends its way.
